Yushchenko urging against political confrontation in anti-crisis program development
During Friday's meeting on the efforts of all branches of state power and political forces in crisis conditions of economic development, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko urged the Verkhovna Rada Chairman, the Prime Minister, and Central Bank Governor and the opposition to coordinate their work on anti-crisis measures, the presidential press service told UKRINFORM. Yushchenko stated that crisis phenomena are taking place in the national economy against the background of global stagnation predicted for 2009, and called for giving up politics in the vital problem settlement.

Ukraine to revive dialogue with IMF shortly - President Yushchenko
Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko has assured that Ukraine would shortly revive a dialogue with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), he said this at a meeting with the G-7 ambassadors in Kyiv. "We've worked out a letter to the IMF along with the Premier, Verkhovna Rada Speaker and, I think, the document would be completed today or tomorrow, he claimed.

The first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, is calling on incumbent president Viktor Yushchenko to resign, he was speaking on the Ukraine TV channel on Tuesday. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko claimed that amendments to the state budget for 2009 would be introduced in May. She said this at a gathering of the Association of Cities and Communities in Kyiv on Friday.

President concerned over Ukraine's possible failure to get IMF's another tranches
President Viktor Yushchenko is concerned over Ukraine may not receive another tranches of the IMF stand-by arrangement, he was speaking at the meeting with EBRD President Thomas Mirow. "Put in the 2009 state budget USD 12 billion of the IMF assistance is placed in doubt," Yushchenko said. He noted serious divergences between the IMF Mission and the Cabinet of Ministers as regards the state budget of Ukraine for 2009 and promised to do his best to make the government improve the situation.

Premier calling on country's leadership to sign declaration with IMF
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is calling on President Viktor Yushchenko, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Central Bank Governor and the Acting Finance Minister to sign a declaration with the International Monetary Fund so that it would be able to continue crediting the national economy. Snap election of president, parliament unlikely - Razumkov Center
Presidential elections will put an end to the current confrontation between Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, says Oleksandr Lytvynenko, expert of the Razumkov Center's law and policy programs. He believes early elections to be unlikely, although oppositional Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych repeatedly called for a snap presidential and parliamentary election. "I do not believe in it, since there are no formal grounds for those elections, and it is also so little time left that an early election is hardly expedient," Lytvynenko noted basing on the provision that the scheduled presidential elections must take place in late January 2010.
