Yushchenko says crisis should be used to hold radical reforms
The economic crisis should be used for radical reforms, rather than elections, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said in his address marking Ukraine's Independence Day in Kyiv on August 24.
The head of state presented his strategic plan on social and economic issues, which includes three key positions. "Firstly, we should continue our course for the real national revival of Ukraine," he said. Yushchenko said that major attention should be paid to Ukraine's newest information policy. "It [the policy], along with our media, film production, and book printing, should become an instrument to popularize Ukrainian national ideas," he said.
