President Yanukovych invites UEFA boss to witness progress made in preparations for Euro-2012

President Viktor Yanukovych addressed a letter to UEFA President Michel Platini , in which he called Ukraine's successful preparation for the 2012 European Football Championship as "an absolute state priority," the press office of the Presidential Administration reported.

The President noted a significant reduction in the backlog of works at the basic infrastructure facilities, and return of the overall process of preparations to the controlled track. "At the same time we perceive constructive criticism and strive to pre-settle all potential problems and threats that may arise during preparations for the championship," the letter reads.

The President invited the head of UEFA to visit Ukraine in the near future and witness the progress of preparations for the tournament.

As UKRINFORM already reported, UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino , who came on an inspection visit to Ukraine, is optimistic about the country's preparedness for the European Football Championship of 2012.

Infantino told a press conference in Kyiv Thursday that he had visited all the four Ukrainian cities, which will host the championship, and was fully satisfied with what he had seen.

However, according to him, the Ukrainian government has still much to do for the championship. In particular, it is necessary to prepare a hotel infrastructure, and to resolve the issue of learning English by the staff who will serve the guests and participants of the championship.
