Yushchenko: Key mission of new president consists in country's consolidation
|
President Viktor Yushchenko has been interviewed by Inter TV Channel broadcasted in the news round-up 'Podrobnosti Nedeli' on Sunday, the presidential press-service reported.
During the interview, Yushchenko basically focused on the election outcome and further development of a political situation. In particular, he commented on the possibility of holding pre-term parliamentary election and forming various formats of the coalition. At the same time the head of state warned against backstage deals currently in progress between the parliament's two main political forces. A scenario of their consolidation, in Yushchenko's opinion, will be posing threat to key democratic achievements and the country's independence in all.
President Yushchenko also pointed to a crucial task of the newly elected president that consists in the country's consolidation. "One can choose a technical policy, which is simpler, but it has no strategy. And a strategy for Ukraine is how to form a nation of the population," he added. "We now have a chance to return to a thesis 'East and West together', Yushchenko believes.
