Speaker Lytvyn demands coalition confirmation in 10 days

Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn
Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn has today addressed to the coalition asking to provide documents in support of its existence and activity.

The ruling coalition comprises the factions of the Block of Yulia Tymoshenko (BYuT), the Our-Ukraine - People's Self-Defense (OU-PSD) and the Bloc of Lytvyn. However, in view of the split in OU-PSD, the question arises on the coalition performance, which is formally in full strength.

Lytvyn, referring to the recently adopted law on the parliament regulations, reminded that a coalition agreement must be attached with the lists of members of the deputy factions, who formed the coalition with personal signatures. He also emphasized that 'while there is no other - the current coalition exists'.

Commenting on Lytvyn's statement, Andriy Kozhemiakin of BYuT said that there are now three scenarios seen.

"There are now three ways: either the OU-PSD faction forms a collation with the Party of Regions or it confirms its presence in the current coalition or all of us go into pre-term parliamentary election," he said.
