Ukrainian premier notes certain economic stability in Ukraine

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said that the peak of the global financial crisis has passed. She was speaking at a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations in Kyiv on Monday, the government's press service reported.

"The fact that we haven't brought our country to a default, its failure to pay wages and pensions, and the complete destruction of its economic system is due to God's blessing and a great deal of joint work done," she said.

Tymoshenko said that certain economic stability could currently be seen in Ukraine, because industrial output has been steadily growing during the last three months.

She also said that the government's work could be assessed in the course of time. "The truth could be seen in 20-25 years... Yes, it's very hard [for us to combat crisis], but we've saved Ukraine, and saved it from extremely radical threats," Tymoshenko said.
