President not to allow "dividing country for two" - Victor Yushchenko's Press Secretary
|
The President's reaction for today's call of the BYUT and the Party of Regions representatives to join "the large coalition" was stated by President's Press Secretary Iryna Vannykova.
The President welcomes consolidation of any political forces if the aim of their uniting is fighting the crisis. But setting up new coalitions should be open and in compliance with the law, she said.
The President, according to her, considers it obvious that a broad coalition is regarded by its initiators exclusively as a mechanism for a shadow constitutional reform with the following power usurpation.
"The Ukrainian President considers that adoption of the new Constitution is the only mechanism for resolving political contradictions. But realization of these amendments should take into consideration the public opinion and they should be adopted democratically", I. Vannykova noted.
According to her, "President Viktor Yushchenko considers inadmissible the fact that negotiations about adoption of the new Constitution of Ukraine are carried out in a secret mode".
"Behind-the-scenes adoption of the new Constitution, as well as intentions to elect the President in the Parliament and continue a cadence of this Verkhovna Rada for another several years is qualified by the political science as an anti-Constitutional revolt", the Press Secretary of the Head of State underscored.
I. Vannykova also stated that the President, as a guarantor of the Constitution, cautions against such a development of events and warns and he will not allow "dividing the country for two".
As UKRINFORM reported, today in the Parliament's speeches, Party of Regions MP Dmytro Tabachnyk and BYUT faction leader Ivan Kyrylenko invited other Verkhovna Rada factions to join "the large coalition".
