State Customs Service to simplify cargo registration
|
Ukrainian State Customs Service Head Anatoliy Makarenko has said that orders are being drafted regarding the introduction of a "green corridor" - a maximally simplified regime of customs control and cargo registration for responsible exporters and resident importers.
He said that customs officers would examine cargo passing through the green corridor only in exceptional cases - if customs rules are violated.
The service currently checks 80% of cargo, Makarenko said. By the end of this year, the domestic customs service (registering cargo in a customs regime) should check only 30% of cargo, he added. "There are currently no problems at the domestic customs service, but unfortunately, ports and border checkpoints remain in a risk zone, therefore, tight policies should be conducted there," Makarenko said.
