Local border traffic agreement between Ukraine and Poland to take effect in late May - early June - Ukraine's foreign Ministry

There are all legal grounds to say that an agreement on local border traffic between Ukraine and Poland will take effect in late May or early June 2009, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Vasyl Kyrylych said at a briefing on Monday. He said that this document has yet to be signed by the Polish president. After that, Kyrylych said, Poland will send a note to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry informing it about the approval of all domestic procedures.

Ukraine, after receiving the mentioned note from Poland, will, in turn, send its own note to Poland confirming the reception of the Polish note and inform it about the date this agreement comes into force. According to this agreement, it takes effect on the tenth day after the reception of the last note in which the sides inform each other about the completion of all procedures required for this agreement to take effect. Kyrylych recalled that Ukraine had already implemented all of the necessary domestic procedures.

The Ukrainian-Polish agreement will embrace 1,107 population centers in Ukraine with the population of around 950,000 people, Kyrylych added.
