Ukraine's industrial output up 8.3% in March, says premier

Ukraine's industrial production grew by 8.3% in March 2009 compared to February 2009, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

"There are stable figures indicating the recovery of the economy. Industrial production grew by 8.3% in March compared to February. This figure is very important for us to see where the economy and the crisis are moving, and whether the economy continues falling, or starts recovering and developing," she said, adding that industrial production grew by 5.4% in February compared to January this year.

Moreover, Tymoshenko said that the production of construction materials grew by 38% in March. "A fall was not registered in any of the sectors. There was a stable growth in all of the industries, and in some of them, this growth exceeded 50%," she said.
