Naftogaz will repay February deliveries in time
|
National joint stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine promised to pay for the natural gas supplies in February in good time, i.e. before the end of the week, when Russia's Gazprom promised not to impose fines or cut the deliveries. This agreement was reached by phone between Naftogaz head Oleh Dubyna and Gazprom head Aleksey Miller, the ICTV Ukrainian television channel reported.
It was recently mentioned that on Tuesday Gazprom may cut by a quarter the supply of natural gas to Ukrainian consumers. The Russian monopoly warned about this last week, reminding that, according to Gazprom estimates, Kyiv owes USD 1.5 billion for gas.
That is why the issue of gas payments by enterprises, organizations, housing and utilities complex will be in the focus of government officials' attention. Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will call a special meeting.
In February Kyiv already transferred to Gazprom two tranches for approximately USD 300 million, and before the end of the week Naftogaz of Ukraine will pay out USD 235 million more.
