Premier calling on country's leadership to sign declaration with IMF
|
Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is calling on President Viktor Yushchenko, Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Central Bank Governor and the Acting Finance Minister to sign a declaration with the International Monetary Fund so that it would be able to continue crediting the national economy. Tymoshenko made this call while opening a government meeting on Wednesday.
She also said she had already signed the declaration.
"We are fully prepared for continuing cooperation with the IMF, and are making appropriate steps. I am convinced that our cooperation with the IMF will secure a new tranche in support of the Ukrainian economy," the Prime Minister noted.
The IMF decided to give Ukraine a stabilization credit of USD 16.4 billion for coping with results of the finance and economy crisis. The program was designed for two years. Ukraine received the first tranche of the credit in the amount of USD 4.5 billion in November.
