Parliament's another attempt to sack Tymoshenko's Cabinet failed
|
The Verkhovna Rada has today failed to pass non-confidence motion over Yulia Tymoshenko's government initiated by the opposition Party of Regions.
Having heard and discussed the Cabinet's report on socio-economic situation in the country, the parliament did not pass the draft resolution. A total of 203 MPs voted for the decision with 226 MPs needed (Party of Regions - 172, BYuT 1, OUPSD - 10, CPU 20).
This is the second attempt of the opposition to vote non-confidence in Tymoshenko's Cabinet. In July 2008, the Party of Regions tried to dismiss this government but failed with only 174 MPs backing the motion.
As UKRINFORM reported, the Party of Regions MPs have today claimed they would return the seals if the parliament fails to dismiss Y. Tymoshenko's government.
