NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine is surprised over a statement of the Russian Gazprom saying Ukraine allegedly refuses to pay for gas delivered in November-December.
NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine notified neither JSC Gazprom nor Swiss gas trader RosUkrEnergo that after transferring of USD 800 million for the natural gas consumed it will stop paying for it by the end of the year, Naftogaz Spokesman Valentyn Zemlianskyi reported.
"Redemption of the credit indebtedness to RosUkrEnergo is running as planned that can be proved by the very transfer of another USD 800-million tranche," he said.
The Naftogaz Spokesman confirmed what President Yushchenko had said: Naftogaz means to shortly transfer another USD 200 million to pay off the debt.
"Gazprom thereby has slightly overestimated when speaking about the lack of a possibility to transfer to direct contracts and possible gas cutting for Ukraine from January 1, 2009," Zemlianskyi underscored.
