Cabinet approves bailout program

The Ukrainian Government examined at its meeting on Wednesday and passed as a basis the draft program of the Cabinet of Ministers' activity during the crisis and post-crisis period. The program will be adopted on December 20 after finalizing.

The draft program took into account the provisions of the coalition agreement and the government's vital tasks set by the Ukrainian Breakthrough: For People, Not Politicians program, the Cabinet of Ministers' press service reported.

The government listed among its priority objectives achievement of macroeconomic stability; rehabilitation and restoration of normal functioning of Ukraine's finance markets; reinstatement of trust in the banking system; minimization of negative social aftereffects through conducting reasonable and responsible social policy; strengthening of business activity; and renewal of economic growth.

Among the program objectives oriented at the midterm perspective, 2010 - 2012, there are also guarantees of fundamental prerequisites for Ukraine's post-crisis development, removal of infrastructure barriers to development, upgrading of the technology level of industrial production, creation of high-tech agro-industrial complex, etc.

As reported, Wednesday's meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers was taking place behind closed doors.
