Budget 2009 to be adopted by year-end

Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has hopes that the 2009 budget will be adopted by the end of 2008, she was speaking at the government meeting on Monday.

She however stressed that this budget will be "extremely difficult".

"We do not see recovery of the global markets of metal products, farm goods, chemistry. But all the same we have to bring stability and reliability to the country," Tymoshenko said.

She also reported that she has today held a meeting with Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn and suggested adopting the earlier submitted draft state budget 2009 this week.
