The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has today appointed its speaker, Volodymyr Lytvyn, who used to head the parliament till 2005.
Lytvyn was elected owing to creation of the ruling coalition of BYuT, OUPSD and Lytvyn's Bloc. The speaker announced this following his election.
When voting, not all members of the pro-presidential faction OUPSD gave their votes for Lytvyn - 40 out of 72.
However, the Communist faction voted for the new speaker in full strength.
