Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said he refused to hold snap elections to the parliament in December this year and believes that they could take place in 2009.

"There's no point in holding the elections during holidays at the end of the year," he told journalists in Warsaw.

"We're doing all we can to bring the package of anti-crisis measures and the budget for 2009 in line with clauses on the financing of the early elections," Yushchenko said.

On October 29, the Ukrainian parliament refused to support a bill on funding the snap elections.
