Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko said that the provision of a loan by the International Monetary Fund is a sign of increasing confidence in Ukraine for the international community.
"This decision is a signal to the international community about increasing confidence in our country. IMF assistance will give more confidence to business circles, and, first and foremost, to the financial sector. The national economy will receive a strong resource for the development of its priority directions and a guarantee of the banking system's liquidity," the president said.
He also noted that the "holding of decisive economic and financial policies will help us not only to tackle the global crisis, but also to be strong and united after settling it."
"Large-scale structural reforms are necessary. I am aiming the leadership of the government and the National Bank at this goal," Yushchenko said.
