There are no hindrances to holding early parliamentary elections, which might have required additional presidential decrees or the postponement of the elections. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko was speaking in an interview with Inter TV Channel on Sunday evening.
"There's no need to seek hindrances where they don't exist," he said, adding that in the absence of a single register of voters, the lists of voters were formed no worse as they were formed at early elections in 2007, which were declared transparent and democratic by all observers.
At the same time, the problem of financing the elections can be resolved at the expense of the budget's reserve fund, which currently includes UAH 900 million. "Both the Tax Code, the Budget Code and a clause on the reserve fund clearly foresee in what situations the money of this fund can be used," Yushchenko said, adding that early elections can be included in situations of this kind.
Speaking about post-election processes, the president said that he would support a coalition that will be formed to implement a common view of the country's development, rather than distribute posts.
