A decision on Verkhovna Rada's pre-term dissolution was politically weighted and legally grounded, as MPs of the 6th convocation failed to ensure a constructive work in favor of the country, President Viktor Yushchenko told a news conference in Rome.

He accused BYuT and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko of unwillingness to revive the democratic coalition following its breakdown on September 3. All the same, Yushchenko stressed, the talks were running in other political camp. The Head of State underscored that the question was about "a very well-prepared scenario". "I would like to stress - non-Ukrainian scenario", he added.

The President also reminded that he was ready to accept any format of the majority, however, he made sure yesterday that political forces in the Verkhovna Rada had no decision on a new majority configuration, "in frames of such a parliament configuration we cannot answer the question on the coalition formation." As "no political force offered the President a package that could be supported by a new coalition with 226 MPs", Yushchenko said.

Thus, citizens are to have their word now, whereas the 6th convocation parliament has to address quickly the issue on electoral register and make some amendments to the elections law.

As UKRINFORM earlier reported, the President signed a decree calling the snap parliamentary elections on December 7, 2008.
