President Viktor Yushchenko demanded the parliament "to evaluate events in Georgia distinctly" during a meeting with speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk and leader of the faction Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense Vyacheslav Kyrylenko. "The consolidated position of the coalition on this issue will prove its capability,' the president noted.
The Ukrainian president is convinced that the situation in Georgia should be one of the first issues for parliament's consideration. "The fate of coalition is in the hands of coalition but not the Constitutional Court," the president considers.
He also expressed concern with the fact that the coalition could not fulfill the liability minimum of the coalition agreement. Thus, the coalition should start operating during the 3rd session of the Verkhovna Rada from fulfilling the coalition agreement, and first of all, by adoption of the bills envisaged by the document. The president stated that the parliament was introduced only 42 bills and adopted only 11 out of 200 stipulated for the agreement.
The president urged to concentrate efforts on adoption of laws on opposition, amendments to the law on local state administrations and to the law on local self-governing as well as urgent adoption of a new edition of the law on purchase of goods, works and services for state funds.
Viktor Yushchenko dwelt upon a promise of the coalition to pass the law on abolition of benefits of the people's deputies.
The president also urged to escape politicization of the constitutional process.
