President Viktor Yushchenko noted a progress in overcoming consequences of the July flood by the Ivano-Frankivsk region. While in the Verkhovyna district, Yushchenko noted that a part of humanitarian aid came to the district, including over 1.3 thousand tons of foodstuffs. The Defense Ministry handed over 14 units of special machinery and two bridges of boats, UKRINFORM reports with reference to the presidential press service.
The President informed that by September 1 repairs of all flooded schools should be completed not only in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, but in all localities that suffered from the flood and declared a zone of the urgent ecological situation.
Yushchenko called reconstruction of housing and repairs of roads to be the main task and assured that three future months will be dedicated to active construction of dwelling houses.
While addressing local citizens, the President underscored that they will not be alone with their disaster. "We can overcome only jointly all those consequences which should be removed by us and left in the past ... All Ukraine will be working here", he said, having called once again to mutual understanding and consolidation in the case of overcoming consequences of the natural disaster.
