Archer Viktor Ruban wins 3rd Ukrainian Olympic gold

Viktor Ruban from Kharkiv (East Ukraine) has become Olympic champion in archery. In the final of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games he won Kyung-Mo Park from South Korea 113:112. Bair Badenov from Russia.
On his way to the highest stage of the pedestal he won Maged Youssef (111:96), Australian Michael Naray (115:109), Polish Jacek Proc (114:108), Japanese Ryuichi Moriya (115:106) and Russian Bair Badenov (112:112, 10:10, 10:8).

Viktor Ruban was born on May 24, 1981 in Kharkiv. He is a bronze winner of the 2004 Olympics in Athens in team classification. He has higher education, graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports. He is a serviceman of the State Border Guard Service. His trainer is Liudmyla Prokopenko. He is married, football is his hobby.

This is the third Ukrainian medal at Olympics-2008. The Ukrainian team including Halyna Pundyk, Olena Khomrova, Olga Zhovnir and Olga Kharlan has won gold in women's team sabre fencing. Ukrainian sportsman Artur Ayvazian has become Olympic champion in 50m rifle shooting.

Ukrainians won four bronze medals. Armen Vardanian gained bronze in Greco-Roman wrestling (weight under 66 kg), Natalia Davydova in athletics (weight under 69 kg). Ukrainian duet Illia Kvasha/Oleksiy Prihorov won bronze in Men's synchronized 3m springboard diving and Roman Hontiuk in judo (below 81 kg).
