Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko says that there are no constitutional grounds for early parliamentary elections. He expressed this opinion during the I Think So program on Ukrainian TV channel 1+1.
"There are no constitutional grounds for one more snap election," Yushchenko said.
The oppositional Party of Regions has been blocking the parliament's work since January 18, demanding consideration of the question of the letter of three top leaders of the state concerning Ukraine's joining the NATO Membership Action Plan. Apart from this, other requirements involving some domestic affairs were also put forward.
Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych stated at a shadow government meeting that early parliamentary ballots are possible in the nearest future.
Prime Minister Yuliya Tymoshenko sees no grounds for snap elections.
