PRESIDENT TO SERVE NEEDS OF SOCIETY AND NATION, VIKTOR BALOHA SAYS

Statements on support of President Viktor Yuschenko as a runner for the president in 2010 in case he agrees to fulfill a number of requests are stupid and very unreasonable, Chief of the Presidential Secretariat Viktor Baloha said.

According to Baloha, these statements have launched an election campaign.

A politician should be interested in welfare of the nation, rather than a political campaign, Baloha believes.

The Chief of the Presidential Secretariat opined that some forces mean to undermine determination of President Viktor Yuschenko. Yushchenko's persistence sees high oppression of those, whose corporate interests counteract the law, honesty, he said.

He stressed that Yushchenko will work for the sake of the Ukrainian nation.

Notably, PM Yuliya Tymoshenko said Monday she is ready to back the president at 2010 presidential elections in case of harmonic and balanced cooperation
