Prime Minister Yuliya Tymoshenko, who is currently on a visit to Brussels, has reiterated its statement saying Ukraine will not use its accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) as a mean of pressure on Russia, including in gas issues. She stressed that Ukraine's WTO accession will serve an impetus just for creation of the free trade area with the European Union.
"Accession into the World Trade Organization is a good way for Ukraine's integration with the worldwide trade space, but not a mean to bring pressure on other countries," she pointed out.
For his part, Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission stressed that talks to create the free trade zone will not drag on for a long time and will be held right after Ukraine joins WTO, in other words, they could take place even in February.
The European Commission President noted the EC is determined as before to promote reforms in Ukraine and ready to provide the new Government with overall assistance.
Yuliya Tymoshenko has again proposed the European Commission to launch talks on creation of a single visa area with the European Union having expressed satisfaction in first results of the entry into force of the Agreement on Simplification of Visa Regime.
