Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has addressed today a letter to the Prosecutor General, concerning the fight between Internal Affairs Minister Yuriy Lutsenko and Kyiv City Head Leonid Chernovetsky upon completion of the National Security and Defense Council meeting on January 18, the presidential press service reported.

The President asked for a study of all circumstances over the incident, and, if necessary, for application of all legal measures against its participants.

Presidential Secretariat Head Viktor Baloha, commenting on Friday's events and the letter to the Prosecutor General, reported about a "fresh shameful clash between two ranking officials, irrespective of who was the first to start, and who is to blame".

"The two officials acted inadequately to their high posts," Baloha emphasized. In his words, the President is awaiting from the Prosecutor General's Office a profound legal assessment of the clash between Lutsenko and Chernovetsky.

"It does not matter who will be found guilty - the parliamentary force leader and the government officer, or the city head. They both enjoy trust of thousands of people, who delegated them to power quite not for practicing close fight," Baloha stressed.
