KYIV, June 2 /UKRINFORM/. Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, who is on an official visit in the Vatican, gave an interview to Vatican Radio.

In his interview, Yushchenko described the condition of relations and the level of cooperation between Ukraine and the Vatican. He also described the current religious situation in Ukraine, the relations between the state and religious organizations.

Asked by the radio about his Monday's meeting with Pope Benedict XVI, Yushchenko said among other things they focused on the issue of Christian values and Christian unity.

According to the agreement, the National Radio Company of Ukraine airs a special Ukraine-language program of Vatican Radio on the first channel of the Ukrainian radio.
