Ukraine cannot become neutral Switzerland - BYuT MP Oleh Bilorus

KYIV, July 13 /UKRINFORM/. Oleh Bilorus (BYuT), the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs, says Ukraine cannot have the status of neutral state, he has today told the International Parliamentary Conference on European Security in Kyiv.

"The issue of Ukraine's neutrality, non-aligned status - is, probably, purely rhetorical," he stressed. "In fact, there are neither grounds, nor preconditions or possibilities for such an ideal Swiss solution," Bilorus believes, Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States 1992-1994, OSCE PA Vice President 2006-2007.

According to him, today Ukraine does not feel real guarantees of security. Besides, according to the MP, there are no 'real guarantees for Ukraine's integration with the collective security systems and Euro-Atlantic integration systems".

Oleh Bilorus noted that 'it is unfair' to Ukraine and other countries of the former USSR and followed the way of nuclear disarmament.

"No one has the right to ban Ukraine implement its natural right for joining the collective security system and obtain firm guarantees of its national sovereign development," he underscored.
