Prosecutor's office reclassifies Bartenev case into murder
KYIV, July 29 /Ukrinform/. Crimean Prosecutor's Office has reclassified into premeditated murder an article of the criminal proceedings regarding an attack on Feodosiya Mayor Oleksandr Bartenev, the press service of the prosecutor's office has reported.
"Criminal proceedings were launched under Part 2, Article 115 and Part 4, Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (premeditated murder, robbery). The Crimean prosecutor is overseeing the course of the investigation," reads the statement.
As reported, an assassination attempt was made against Feodosiya Mayor Oleksandr Bartenev at about 0130 on July 27. An unknown person shot him at his back from a sawed-off shotgun. Bartenev underwent a series of operations, but died in the evening on the same day.
Investigators are considering multiple versions of the attack, but are inclined to think that it was done for robbery.
